Holographic Hues

Inspired by rainbow holographic hues and in the words of the Haim girls ''I'll never look back'', the london fashion scene has adopted the latest trend of 'fluro reflections'. The concept of always taking a step ahead this colour focus trend has been referenced throughout the fashion industry referencing the consumers desire for eye catching psychedelic pops. We note the use of reflective shimmery surfaces and pearly metallics with powerful reflective angles have been seen across Burberry Prorsum’s high-shine trench coats and Jonathan Saunder’s mirrored separates, London has gained a futuristic essence. Step out of common ground and head towards an ultramodern destination of cutting-edge oil slick metallics within your wardrobe.

Resort '13

Stella McCartney’s 2013 Resort

Each season, Stella seems to come up with a more clever and innovative way to present her newest collection. This time, the candy colored plaids, crisp white separates and florals, models and guests were treated to a carnival themed garden party. Of course, no ordinary garden would do – this one just happened to be complete with lemonade stands, flower carts and a brass band. The collections at Stella just seem to be full of innovation and excitement that isn't forced.
Resort collections are becoming much more popular with fashionistas and not just those who can afford these lavish winter holidays which i love. Stella no doubt has a great style aesthetic, which I personally find so appealing, I absolutely love the leopard and floral pieces but what i really enjoy from this collection is the 'fluro reflection' flashes which are inspired by rainbow holographic hues that create powerful angles of psychedelic pops. I like their is alot more to be seen from these pearly reflective metallic within the fashion world.

What I love about this resort collection is you don't need to have a long haul destination in sight or a boat to wear this look. You might need to wear your shades when rocking one of the biggest trends from the resort shows this season. Bold, bright and neon hues first began appearing on runways in the Spring 2012 shows but have carried over into the 2013 resort collection.Whether you choose to go all out in a neon dress or accessorize with a holograhic inspired bag, this isn't a look to be missed.

Messy Chignons

For the Bottega Veneta spring / summer 2013 show, the chignon was given a dreamy and wispy twist by Redken’s Creative consultant, Guido Palau. Creating a great combination between the florals and light weight farics, Palau updated the chignon creating a timeless and elegant yet still playful hairstyle that anyone can easily do on their own. The look gives more of an effortless feel to any look and can be worn in many ways.

Here is Sienna Miller sporting a similiar look on The Jonathan Ross show last week...

Tips to create the look...

1.Roughly blow dry your hair with a diffuser to create some texture and add some bumble bumble surg spray to get some effortless waves.
2.Create a straight middle parting and then apply dry shampoo/talc to the roots of your hair for a matte effect.

3.Now it’s time to gather your hair into a ponytail, gently comb random areas of your hair and tie it into a ponytail secured with a hair tie, Keep the ponytail low and loose to really get that wispy look.
4.To create more texture, comb your ponytail using a bristle brush. Do this gently, you want a natural wispy look and not a messy one.
5.Create the wispy chignon by twisting the ponytail into a bun and then secure it with some hair pins.

Grace by Grace Coddington

Has anyone else been dying to get their hands on Grace: A Memoir? Vogue’s creative director was rather unexpectedly launched into the public a few years back with the documentary The September Issue that revealed the inner workings of a fashion magazine, bringing to light the creative and down-to-earth dedication of someone who tries to keep out of the limelight, Grace Coddington. Grace fashions best-kept secret is the creative behind the lavish portfolios at the heart of each issue. The documentary shared an insight into the relationship between Grace Coddington and Anna Wintour showing the creative balance between two powerful women that the public had not previously seen.

Model turned master stylist collaborated with the best photographers and hair and makeup artists in the business to create moving pictures on the page. Grace has produced the likes of the  fantastical Wizard of Oz portfolio for Vogue’s December issue, with a cast of fashion and art-world stars. Editorials come to life with an Yves Saint Laurent–clad Alice  and wonderland played by model Natalia Vodianova tumbles down the rabbit hole with the White Rabbit played by the designer Tom Ford and a Keira Knightley Doherty vogues on the Yellow Brick Road in head-to-toe Lanvin. I don’t know what amazes me more her talent or the fact that the most iconic stylist of time was born in Anglesey, North Wales an extremely small island just close to my hometown, where she describes screens of herself sitting on rocks looking out at the sea alone and just wondering, flicking the pages of British Vogue (that would often arrive three months late) and just dream...

Grace has truly changed the way we see fashion into more of a imaginative idea taking styling in a whole new light. The vision Grace has it something wonderful and i am sure its more than she ever envisioned.

Coats VS Supercapes

Your winter style doesn’t have to be ruled by big sleeping bag coats and traditional coats. A stylish and chic alternative is the cape that's been all over this season’s runways. From classic black to cape jackets, or whether it be flinging your coat over your shoulders like me and roaming around the local pub like the next superhero follow suit and team your cape with unexpected pieces. Think bold, team with stylish trousers and mix some pattern in to breathe some life into your cold winter wardrobe.
